To
register to vote a person must be a resident of Oregon, a US Citizen and 18 or
older.
Mail-in
registration forms are available at banks, schools, post offices, libraries,
fire stations, city halls, in phone books, on the web, at the Department of
Motor Vehicles and at Lane County Elections. Information on precincts, wards or
voting districts is available at Lane County Elections.
Registration
forms must be postmarked or received in the Lane County Elections Office by 5
p.m. on the 21st day before an election. Re-registration is necessary if a
voter changes name, address, or party affiliation.
Voters
may register in a political party or may register as "not a member of a party."
For the primary election, unaffiliated voters will receive ballots for issues
and non-partisan candidates. In the general election they are eligible to vote
for party candidates.
Elections
in Oregon are conducted by mail. Ballots are mailed to registered voters 18
days prior to an election. Ballots must be received at Lane County Elections by
8:00 p.m. on Election Day. Voters may mail their ballots, drop them off at
specified sites, or go to the County Elections Office to cast their ballots.
