Our unit discussions for this November and December will be about immigration and US immigration policy as this subject is being studied by the LWVUS. November's unit will provide us with background information and discussion. December's unit will focus on our response to the consensus questions.

The Everymember Material for both months will be distributed with the Argus for the relevant month. But we're also putting the bulk of this material in our web file to provide an early and easily available reference for our membership.

In November we'll read the "Executive Summary" of a recent publication of the Migration Policy Institute, Immigration and America's Future: A New Chapter. This chapter of the publication is already available on line at http://www.migrationpolicy.org/task_force/new_chapter_summary.pdf. We've received permission from the publisher to reprint the chapter in unlimited quantities.

In December we'll read the five essays on immigration being published in the "National Voter". Three have already been published and two more will be published in October's edition of the magazine. These articles are based upon the eight research papers commissioned by the LWVUS.
