The board has approved a schedule that includes a variety of formats addressing local, state, and national issues of the past, present, and future. We hope to have something of interest to everyone while taking advantage of every opportunity to let our League's voice be heard. Please join us!
September 20, 2007: Membership luncheon with a living history performance of Abigail Adams; coordinated by Renee Buchanan.
From October through May: A monthly Third Thursday luncheon with a speaker; Nancie Fadeley oversees this program.
February 23, 2008: Civics 101: Eugene and Springfield: Common Interests and Competing Priorities. Join us to explore this topic with speakers and discussion on a Saturday morning. Linda Lynch will organize this year's Civics 101.
Unit discussion meetings:
October 8-12, 2007: State and local ballot measures.
November 12-16 and December 10-14, 2007: US immigration policy. Consensus questions to answer in December.
January 7-11, 2008: Program Planning: a review of current national and local League positions and the opportunity for members to suggest new topics for discussion and/or study.
March 10-14: "Your Share of Sustainability" featuring an assessment of members' personal carbon footprint and a discussion of how we may all reduce our carbon consumption.
April 7-11: "Healthy Kids", a review of health care options for kids in Lane County and Oregon, and a discussion of potential health care reforms for this population.
May 12-16: "Water Issues in Lane County" in support of a statewide study of water resources by LWVOR.
